LAVA Professional Development Events

LAVA features monthly professional development events based on the expressed needs of our members. LAVA also works to keep members up-to-date on relevant local, regional, provincial, national, and international workshops and conferences. Take me directly to current events and news, please!

LAVA E-Zine

Each year LAVA produces an e-zine to celebrate the impact volunteers have on the London and area community during National Volunteer Week in April. Participation is open to non-members and fees are on a sliding scale to make the publication accessible to all. Details and application are available in January of each year.

Soapbox is one of the activities at our monthly events. Members are given the opportunity to ask a question, make a request, or bring up any topic that they are challenged with in their volunteer management duties. This lively exchange allows experienced members to share information, resources, strategies, and experience. Our membership from a wide range of volunteer program settings has a lot to offer.

National Volunteer
Manager’s Day

Each year International Volunteer Managers Day (IMVD) takes place on November 5. The event was founded in 1991 by Nan Hawthorn, a volunteer management professional based in the United States. Today, the event is celebrated in 18 countries worldwide. For more information, visit the IVMD website.
